iPhone / iPad / Mac configuration

Set up your mailbox in Apple Mail with a one-tap configuration profile (.mobileconfig), or configure it manually.

Method 1: One-tap configuration profile (recommended)

Open Safari on your iPhone/iPad/Mac, go to the bottom of this page and tap the "Download configuration profile" link. iOS will then ask you to:

Tap Allow to download the profile
Go to Settings → General → VPN & Device Management → vne.email
Tap Install, enter your device passcode
Enter your mailbox password when prompted
Done — open the Mail app, your mailbox is synced

The profile shows "Untrusted Profile" because it isn't signed with an Apple certificate. It contains no cookies or tracking — just a standard plist IMAP+SMTP account setup. You can remove it anytime from the same menu.

Download configuration profile

Enter your email address, then tap to generate the profile:

Method 2: Manual setup

Open Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Mail Account and enter:

Account information

Name	The display name you want recipients to see
Email	your full email address
Password	your mailbox password
Description	"vne.email" or anything you like

Incoming mail server (IMAP)

Host Name	`mail.vne.email`
User Name	your full email address
Password	your mailbox password
Use SSL	ON
Port	`993`
Authentication	Password

Outgoing mail server (SMTP)

Host Name	`mail.vne.email`
User Name	your full email address (REQUIRED — Apple Mail leaves this blank by default)
Password	the same password
Use SSL	ON
Port	`587`
Authentication	Password

Common issues

"Cannot Verify Server Identity"

Your domain doesn't have autoconfig set up yet — Apple Mail first tries connecting directly to mail.<your-domain>. Tap Details → Trust → Continue, or add the correct MX record and wait 15 minutes for DNS to propagate.

Mail app shows "Cannot send mail" after changing your password

Go to Settings → Mail → Accounts → [account] → SMTP → mail.vne.email and re-enter the new password there. Apple Mail caches the incoming and outgoing passwords separately.

iCloud Private Relay hides your mail-sending IP

This doesn't affect vne.email — Private Relay only hides your IP for HTTP traffic; mail still signs DKIM normally.
